Hometown Adventures - Toowoomba and Cooby Dam

Hi lovelies,

Yesterday afternoon Robbie and I went off to visit some friends.

Robbie had made plans to go fishing with Robert, while I planned to spend some time with his beautiful wife Nelsa.  Lucky her name is not Liz or we would all be really confused. 😁

The boys set off to Cooby Dam and for Robbie it was his first time fishing from a boat on a dam.  Robert was extemely kind and supplied all the gear, as well as some excellent tuition.

We received a text from them not too long after they left saying that Robbie had caught his first fish, just 5 minutes after they launched the boat.  I think our excitement would have been on a par with theirs.  We were nearly jumping up and down with happiness that they had caught something.

They apparently had a wonderful time, with both men catching a few yellowbellies each.

Robert also caught an eel tailed catfish, which was something new for both of them.

It was after dark when they returned home, both very satisfied with the expedition, and planning to go again soon.

They only brought the one fish home with them and Robert was very kind and filleted the fish and we have brought them home to cook for dinner tonight.  We learnt that yellowbellies are not really
good to eat if they are too big.

Now we beach lovers have never eaten freshwater fish, so we are looking forward to trying it.  The suggestion is to just pan fry them in a little butter.

While the men were out hunting and gathering, Nelsa and I had a lovely afternoon sharing a cuppa or two and chatting about our families, our travels, and of course the odd craft subject.

Nelsa was kind enough to share some of the mixed media samples she had been working on recently and has graciously allowed me to share them with you.

Most of them are on 4 x 6 cards and I love the colours she has used.

I am not sure if my favourite is the one above here, or the one below.  The one above is "my colours", but the one below reminds me so much of coral, and we all know I am partial to anything ocean related.

Robbie and I both had a wonderful time, and it was a beautiful way to spend an afternoon.

All for today lovelies,
Keep enjoying life.

New South Wales Adventure - Tenterfield

Hi lovelies, A little earlier start this morning than yesterday.  We were up having a lovely breakfast by 8am.   It was a little sad this morning as we said goodbye to Steph and Leo.  We have had such a blessed time with them and we look forward to catching up with them again when we head to South Australia next year. As the weather was drizzly today we decided to head off to visit some of the nearby National Parks.  Our day consisted of dirt roads, mossy paths, lots of kangaroos and very few cars.  Gramps we are very sorry but the O Mobile is in great need of a bath.  If it rains tonight I will be sending Robbie out in his swimmers to give it a wash. Our first stop was to see Thunderbolts Hideout.  It is a short walk through some bush to see where this apparently "gentlemanly" bushranger hid. It was then back into the car and off to see the Tank Traps that were part of the Brisbane Line.  It is a fairly visually unimpressive place for such an important part

Dylusions Dy-Cuts Art Journal

Hi Lovelies, This week's edition of Art Journal is very special, stunning and unique! We can't get enough of all the textures and colours going on in this page! We just love this.  This wonderful page features the Dylusions 'Dy-Cuts' which are quirky and colorful pre-cut shapes which make the perfect addition to any art journal page! You probably can already guess what paints we have used this week... The stunning, vibrant colours which are leaping of this page, are of course, Dylusions paints! When you take a closer look at you can see the texture and elements which have been layered to create this stunning page. A script stamp is perfect for layering and can fill in any gaps where you think something might be missing but not quite sure what! Helen has scattered some of the new Dina Wakley 'Collage Words' across the two pages. These are great as you can add a sentiment to your page whilst still allowing the colours from the background to
