Caves Beach

Hi all, another day of exploring this terrific area. We went to visit Caves Beach today and had to do so at low tide due to the caves accessibility being blocked at high tide. The beach itself was a long and flat where the tide moves up the beach some 15-20 m from low to high. The main claim to fame are the beach caves. The water has eroded a number of small and large caves that aren't deep but very interesting. Some have swallows living within them. You can make your way around the bay by going through the cave to the next area. 1 area we had to time it so as not to get too wet as the tide washed through. After exploring the caves we wandered back to do the walk on the cliff edge (not that close). It was great to get a good view of the area. We even spoke to some fisherman who were fishing from the cliff. (yes they caught a Kingfish that we saw). We then looked up the Petrified Forest near the entrance to the Lake Macquarie , S...

New South Wales Advetures - Grafton, Maclean and Yamba

Hi lovelies, We have had such fun over the last two days. Yesterday we were off for a bit of sight seeing. It was nearly lunch time before Robbie got out of bed (not really, but we did not get on the road until 10am). We first headed to Grafton to have a look at some of the Jacaranda Trees that were in bloom. We also visited the Art Gallery, which now also houses the information centre.   Lots of lovely art pieces to see, and a special chair that was the perfect colour. 😊 . We took a short wander to see some of the local buildings and historic sites. From there we headed to Ulmarra, a lovely old port town,  With some gorgeous old buildings.  I was very pleased to see a book store that was advertising all books at ½ price.   I do think that they put the prices up to cover the sale, but still managed to buy 3 books. From there we were supposed to travel down a tourist road, but alas I misread the map.   Robbie...

New South Wales Adventures - Port Macquarie/Wauchope

Hi lovelies, I know it has been a couple of days since I wrote so I will catch you up on it all. On Sunday we went off for a drive in the morning.   Robbie did some fishing while I sat and read a book.       The weather was a bit grubby, so we did not stay to long before we headed home again. We spent the afternoon reading books and napping.    Monday we left Kendall and headed to Wauchope.   We got settled at the camp grounds, had a spot of lunch and then headed off to see some of the sights of Port Macquarie.   We headed to Tacking Point Lighthouse.        The view from the top of the hill was beautiful.    To the south was Lighthouse Beach, which seemed to stretch for an age,  to the north was a small rocky bay.    After taking in the view we went for a wander down to the rocky bay and wandered in the water.   We were amazed that it se...
