Hi lovelies,
It has been a bit since our last post, but we are finally back on the road and in the gorgeous town of Kenilworth.
After Inglewood we had another quick trip home to deal with yet more paperwork. I managed to catch up with a couple of friends, and that was such a blessing. On one of the days Rob, Andrew, Phillip, Sarah and Judy got together for a game of golf, while I did my normal buggy driving duty. We had a lovely day, full of laughter. Quote of the day was "we are only going to count the shots that land on the fairway".
After golf, Rob and I along with Andrew drove down to Bribie Island to spend a couple of days with my Mum and Dad. Friday was Dad's birthday and it was lovely to be able to spend it with him. We also caught up with one of Mum's sisters and her husband. We spent some time picking all their brains about different aspects of van life.
Our exploring began again yesterday and we are again sticking a little close to home until all the paperwork is fixed up. Yesterday was a bit of a bludge. We set up, had a spot of lunch and then a nap. It is a tough life. 😀 The thing we have noted about the area is that it is very green.
Today we headed off for a drive to Fig Tree Walk. This is just outside Kenilworth and was a beautiful start to our time here. It is a quick walk across a bridge to the start of the path, and the water below was very clear, if a little shallow.
The walk is pretty easy with ramps or a concrete path through the area.
The fig trees are enormous. Some have ramps so you can get a bit closer without doing any damage to the tree or undergrowth
While others are a bit more protected by fences.
They really were a sight to behold.
Coming back across the bridge we spotted this bird who settled at the top of one of the trees just so we could get a shot.
From there we took a quick drive to Booloomba Creek. This is not far from the carpark for the Fig Tree Walk. We got to the edge of the National Park and there just for Robbie was a dirt road.
There were a couple of creeks to cross which made me a little nervous, but Rob managed like a seasoned 4WDer.
How do you think he went?
From there we decided we would go back through Kenilworth and do a little tourist drive through to Amamoor, Kandanga and then to Imbil.
Just outside Imbil we visited Lake Borumba. This is such a pretty drive and the dam had quite a bit of water in it.
This little one sat quite bravely at the edge of the boat ramp.
Then it was back to Imbil, up a steep and narrow road to a lookout. It had started to get a bit overcast and we did get a little rain, but not enough to stop us from exploring
and then back to the van for a late lunch and our obligatory nap.
We did see a couple of lovely items as we traveled. This figure was at the entrance to one farm,
and this was at the entrance to another. I would love one of these, but I don't thing my yard is big enough for it. It is a bit hard to see, but the tray at the back is full of flowers.
All for now lovelies.
Stay safe and keep enjoying life.
Love Us.
