Amazing day in Sydney city.

Hi lovelies,

Yesterday was another Vivid day, and it was a huge day.  Warning a photo and text heavy post.

Our plan was to get some chores done in the morning and then about 9.30 head to the nearest Metro Station and catch the new train into the city.

The best laid plans….  The first station we could not find the car park.  No idea where it is, no signs, no cars to follow, nothing.  So we headed to the next station, just a few minutes away.  First car park – full.  Second car park – 36 car parks available – wonderful and all near the entrance, how lucky were we.  Then arrived at the vacant spaces, and why are car parks close to the entrance of anywhere vacant – because they are for disabled drivers.

So we decided to drive into Balmain, park near my brother’s unit and walk to Darling Harbour, because we knew where to go and it was only just over 2km.

We did miss one turn, but managed to walk along this gorgeous path, where people who are a little more athletic than me do rock climbing.

It was a gorgeous morning at Darling Harbour

we decided to have a look at the “transformer” like statues that were part of the fireworks display.  There are all recycled from wrecked cars.

 Pretty Cool

I loved the tree with the “gear” flowers.

Robbie’s favourite was the scorpion.

This display of mushrooms caught our eye,

and gave us a bit of a laugh.

We then headed to one of the ferry terminals and booked a 1 hour harbour cruise.

For the first part we were the only two on the boat, always ready for a personal tour.

No - not this boat :-)

We left Darling Harbour and headed past Luna Park

 and under the Bridge

to Circular Quay.  Gave us great views of the Opera House.

Others then joined our cruise and we headed off past Pinch Gut Island to Taroonga Zoo.

It was then the reverse trek back.  It was a lovey way to pass an hour and see some icons from different angles.

and were able to check out some different ferries.

Back at Darling Harbour we headed off for some sustenance.  That done we headed back to the Maratime Museum as we had planned to do a shark drawing class.  We checked on the time and then found out it was for kids .  Oh well.

So we thought we would walk through to Circular Quay and have a look around before Vivid started.

We had a little time to kill so spent some time checking out some of the statues in the Botanical Gardens.

We started our Vivid walk with the interactive displays through the gardens,

This one seemed a little simple, but had a lovely message with "many"

becomming one.

Robbie made this display light up with his drum playing.

This bee hive was amazing.  The bee's vibrated when you touched them, and the display smelled of honey.

Back to Circular Quay to see the display at Customs House.  Where this display gave us a giggle.

From there we did a small detour off to see the peacock we had seen before it was all lit,

Then to Samsung Electric Playground, along to the Art Gallery,

Then the display on the Opera House.  From there it was a short walk to see the dancing ballerinas that we at the end of the Cruise Terminal, and had a look at the Bridge

and Luna Park while we were there.

It was then time for an ice-cream so that we could manage the walk back to Balmain.
On the way past Darling Harbour we were treated to one last light display.  Barangaroo Winter Camp.

All in all a pretty wonderful day, and a step count that even had our little Andrew impressed.  His quote “Finally you did some actual walking”.

Robbie had made a collage of some videos he took and if you would like to have a look please click on the link to his youtube channel.

What did we do today?  Walked very little, just enough to do the weekly shopping, and rested our weary bodies. 😊

All for now lovelies
Stay safe and keep enjoying life.
Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

New South Wales Adventure - Tenterfield

Hi lovelies, A little earlier start this morning than yesterday.  We were up having a lovely breakfast by 8am.   It was a little sad this morning as we said goodbye to Steph and Leo.  We have had such a blessed time with them and we look forward to catching up with them again when we head to South Australia next year. As the weather was drizzly today we decided to head off to visit some of the nearby National Parks.  Our day consisted of dirt roads, mossy paths, lots of kangaroos and very few cars.  Gramps we are very sorry but the O Mobile is in great need of a bath.  If it rains tonight I will be sending Robbie out in his swimmers to give it a wash. Our first stop was to see Thunderbolts Hideout.  It is a short walk through some bush to see where this apparently "gentlemanly" bushranger hid. It was then back into the car and off to see the Tank Traps that were part of the Brisbane Line.  It is a fairly visually unimpressive place for such an important part
