Our few days.

Hi lovelies,

I know it has been a few days.  We have moved from Jervis Bay and are now at the lovely town of Batemans Bay.

On Saturday we headed off to Moruya to check out the local markets.  It is about 1/2 hour south of Batemans Bay and quite a pleasant drive. The markets were quite large and had lots on offer.  Our purchase for the morning was a pair of gloves for me.  It has been a bit chilly here.

From the markets we took a trip to Moruya Head to see if we could see any whales.  None appeared this time.  The rock formations at the lookout were really quite special.

As were these gorgeous little fellows who were playing at the nearby beach.

It was then off to the village of Mogo.  We had passed this on the way to the markets and decided it would be worth a stop on the way back.

I found a scrapbook store.  Ladies if you thought I packed a lot into the 'Patch', you have not seen anything.  What this lady had in her store was a sight to behold.  She did hold classes, but I am not sure where, and there was only room for one person in each aisle.  Every space was filled with goodies.  I spent a little time in there just looking at everything, but am sure I missed lots.

We continued to wander around the shops and saw some very interesting things.

I made some new friends at the lolly shop.

These are the only types of possums I want in my garden.

I am sure they were joking about going for a ride.

This one is for Aileen.

A brilliant piece of wood carving.

Sunday it was off to church, and this time we visited Bay Life Church.  These worshipers are part of the International Network of Churches.  They are a small lively congregation and we had a great time there.

Monday was wet and windy, so we stayed inside for most of the day.  We did venture out for a small drive after lunch to see some of the local beaches, but were not out long.

Today was a "Let's go for a walk" day.  I had seen a walk in one of the books to a place called Snake Bay.  There was a photo on the page of a lovely sandy beach with stingrays.

The original walk was  6 hours and Robbie was a little reluctant to go.  I then found a brochure that showed you could come from the other side starting at Pebbly Beach.

It was just 3 hours, and so we decided that would do us.  I could not wait to see if we would spot some stingrays.

The walk went along the coast line and I have to admit that I think I may have blown all credibility with walking trails.

The path was not very well defined in areas, had large up and down sections, had creeks to cross.

The half way point is Clear Point and it does offer a great view of the coast line.

It did go past a number of bays, but there was not too many vantage points to see them from the walk and the walk did not go down to these bays.

Snake Bay has no beach and it certainly would not be an area to see stingrays.

It was also not 3 hours, nor the 7.8km as stated on the sign.

We were very thankful when we returned to the parking area, and could sit in the car.  On the plus side, we did see a couple of liar birds, and also some kangaroos, and this gorgeous butterfly.  It has blue wings when they are open, and red, black, yellow and blue when closed.  Pretty cool.

What did I learn from our walk today.  I think that 3 hours is my limit, but more importantly, check the captions on the photos in brochures.  The picture of the stingray was not only not at Snake Bay, but it was on a completely different walk.  It was 50km from where we were!!!!!!!

We took out weary bodies back to the van where we had a spot of lunch and then it was time to try some fishing.  This was as successful as always 😏.

So back to the van for a rest.

All for now lovelies.

Stay safe and keep enjoying life.

Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

A couple of days in Sydney.

Hi Lovelies, What a wonderful time we have had in Sydney.   Please note this post is very picture heavy, and pretty wordy as well.   Monday morning we left just after 9am to head into the city to visit my brother Michael.     I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track. I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track.  It took just over an hour to get to the docks were Mike was and is was so lovely to see him.     We pottered around and sat watching the river for a bit.   Had a spot of lunch and then set off to collect Seb (my nephew) from school.        School in inner Sydney suburbs is a bit of an eyeopener.   The schools are fenced and gates locked.   You cannot ent
