The Killer Whale Museum - Eden

Hi all. Here is the latest update just a short one before we head to the hills for the freezing cold tomorrow.
Yesterday we ventured to see the the Killer Whale museum. It was very interesting to learn about the old whaling days that was a main stay of the district in the early days of Australian Settlement down here in Eden.

Turns out the the local aboriginal and whale hunters were both assisted by Killer Whales to hunt and kill whales. They worked together to heard up a whale so the killer whales could get the best part of the whale to eat. Given to them by the whale hunters were the lips and tongue.

Old Tom's tooth
Old Tom was a legend here and so after he passed away they created a museum on the killer whales behalf. The killer whales would actually come in the bay to notify the hunters that they had a whale in their sights.

Whales were used for their oil, meat, cartilage, perfume additives and other bits.
Lucky they stopped in the 30's so now we get to watch them play and breach as they pass by.Whale numbers are increasing and the killer whales are returning to the bay here at Eden.
Boiling pots for whale oil

Funniest/ strangest thing we learnt was that people were inserted into the dead whale to assist in Arthritis. Men nude ladies in a loose gown. WOW and they stunk for days afterwards.

Well that's all for today. Till next time......bbbrrrr is on the way.

New South Wales Adventure - Tenterfield

Hi lovelies, A little earlier start this morning than yesterday.  We were up having a lovely breakfast by 8am.   It was a little sad this morning as we said goodbye to Steph and Leo.  We have had such a blessed time with them and we look forward to catching up with them again when we head to South Australia next year. As the weather was drizzly today we decided to head off to visit some of the nearby National Parks.  Our day consisted of dirt roads, mossy paths, lots of kangaroos and very few cars.  Gramps we are very sorry but the O Mobile is in great need of a bath.  If it rains tonight I will be sending Robbie out in his swimmers to give it a wash. Our first stop was to see Thunderbolts Hideout.  It is a short walk through some bush to see where this apparently "gentlemanly" bushranger hid. It was then back into the car and off to see the Tank Traps that were part of the Brisbane Line.  It is a fairly visually unimpressive place for such an important part

Dylusions Dy-Cuts Art Journal

Hi Lovelies, This week's edition of Art Journal is very special, stunning and unique! We can't get enough of all the textures and colours going on in this page! We just love this.  This wonderful page features the Dylusions 'Dy-Cuts' which are quirky and colorful pre-cut shapes which make the perfect addition to any art journal page! You probably can already guess what paints we have used this week... The stunning, vibrant colours which are leaping of this page, are of course, Dylusions paints! When you take a closer look at you can see the texture and elements which have been layered to create this stunning page. A script stamp is perfect for layering and can fill in any gaps where you think something might be missing but not quite sure what! Helen has scattered some of the new Dina Wakley 'Collage Words' across the two pages. These are great as you can add a sentiment to your page whilst still allowing the colours from the background to
