Adelong Gold Fields and the return of the Dog on the Tucker Box.

Hi lovelies,

It is a few days since we went paid a visit to the Adelong Falls Gold Mine outside Tumut, but I have been a bit under the weather so only sharing now.

The town of Adelong is just west of Tumut and is a lovely little town. We visited the Gold Mine ruins and had a wander around and check out the creek and the ruins.

A lot of work has been done to make the ruins safely accessible for visitors. Walking tracks and signed areas make it easy to find things.

It was great to walk around and check out some of the working of the days when the gold mine was a working operation. The site office.

The river was really pretty and a little chilly.

We had a great time and I would recommend it as a place to visit.

We left Tumut on Saturday and traveled through Gundagai. There were areas on the road where the fog was really thick.

We were fortunate that this was the day that the Dog was being returned to his resting place on the tuckerbox. There were lots of people around to see him back where he belonged.

A magical day at Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers

Today was our planned helicopter ride to see the glacier and have a snow landing. We were a tad worried as the weather report the night before was not all that encouraging. We had a bit of a slow start and checked in at the flight desk at 10am as requested. The advice was, the flight would go ahead - however with the changing weather conditions the snow landing would be determined on a minute by minute basis. If the landing was scrapped we would have additional flight time added to keep our trip to the same length. Honestly we were just happy to be able to take off. Safety briefing done, the loading crew led us to the helipads. They were pretty cool. Looked a little like landing pads for space craft. Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format. https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. New South Wales Adventure - Armidale

We today we ventured about Armidale on foot. We started at the markets having a look see at what they had at the farmers market. A few marketers so not much to see today really. Off we walked around town to see the historical sights. Lots of old buildings from the early days. In Armidale 100 years ago you had a choice of 21 Hotels!! Today there are 9. Sorry beer lovers. The original Bank of NSW These guys had a 4 displays of miniature figurines- really cool Baptist Church Lots of churches within cooee of each other ; Catholic, C of E, Pressy, and Baptist. Lovely old buildings to be admired. Catholic Church grounds - Large area.
