Hi lovelies,
Our day off yesterday was just blissful. After a bit of a lay in, we went for a wander
to the Bendemeer Art Show.
There were a great array of painting, drawings and photography. We spent some time walking around and
admiring the pieces.
We were also treated to a wonderful cuppa and morning
tea.
Rob spent some time watching the wood working demonstration,
while I spent time chatting with a lady who was demonstrating silk painting.
One of our top favourites was the resin pouring that had
been put into logs, benches, mirrors and counters. The second were the photos by Josh Vincent of
The Unseen Forrest. It was hard to believe
that these had been photo-shopped. They photo
of trees that had doors placed into them s they looked like fairies lived in
them. Alas as it was an exhibition,
photos were not allowed. I nearly spent
this weeks grocery money to buy one of them, but Robbie restrained me
After that is was back to the van. For Rob it was time to do some work on the
online shop and have a nap.
For me it
was time to have a nap and then read a book.
Until I was so rudely interrupted by someone who wanted to discuss
business. People do you not know that I
am retired.
Today we left the peaceful town of Bendemeer and headed for the
coast. Robbie drove for the first bit
and I took over just past Tia Falls. We
knew that at some stage we would have to come off the mountain, but I have to
say that the roads in New Zealand do not have anything on the Oxley Highway
that leads to the coast. No only was it
steep, it often had no guard rails, and went for nearly 80km. I think I was better being the driver, but
not by much.
We eventually arrived at our campground for the next 2
night. Kendall is a lovey town, and the
showground is well set out. Though no
river view this time.
Lunch done and we headed for the coast.
Our first sidetrack was up a mountain. I cannot blame Robbie for this one. It was my idea to head up to North Brother Lookout
in the Doorogan National Park.
The view from the lookout was spectacular. It was well worth the scary ride up. I will admit to keeping distracted on the
ride down, so I did not have to look at the cliff edges as we drove back down.
It was so scary that I forgot to get a foot-shot, but some silly person did jump off the cliff and do some hang gliding.
We then ventured to a lovely area called Pilot Head. There is a beautifully secluded beach area
with lots of families enjoying the water and sand. The other side of this breakwater is the
ocean.
We continued to explore the area and Robbie found an area
for him to fish tomorrow, while I fnd a book to read and watch the “hunter and
gatherer” try and catch dinner. I am
kind of hoping that he does not catch anything so we can have bought fish and chips
for dinner.
We arrived back at our van in time for happy hour and today
we were joined by some local wildlife.
All for tonight lovelies.
Have an amazing night and keep enjoying life.
Rob and Lizzy.
