An afternoon drive

Hi lovelies,

Today we managed some chores and a nap in the morning.  Just a little reverse from normal.

Then is was lunch and off to explore some more of the country side.

Our first stop was an old port town called Croki.

The remains of the wharf are there to visitors to see, and there is an enclosed swimming area to the right of the wharf.

It seems to be a pretty good place to fish, so we are returning here tomorrow so that Robbie can hunt and gather, and I can read 😎  Such a tough life.

From there we headed to Old Bar, a beach town just east of Taree.  It is a nice drive.  It was fun to see the special tree that was in one of the yards.  I wonder how many feet tall it is?

The beach at Old Bar was a little worse for wear smell wise from seaweed that had been deposited.

Robbie went for a wander and tested the water temp, while I stayed up on the shore this time.

Old Bar has a heritage air strip which was interesting.

And had this cute little structure to celebrate it.

Our next trip we to follow a sign that said there was a berry farm.  We traveled down a "dirt" road and while we did not find the farm, we did spot this old goanna wandering off the road.

From there is was a pleasant drive to Mondrook to enjoy the lovely view and some afternoon tea at the Mondrook Garden.  They make the best milkshake.

You can walk around the garden and check out the ducks and other wildlife.  We did enjoy our time there, but the were just a few to many mossies for me to stay to long.

We then continued north to Wingham. On the way we found this gorgeous lookout.

The views back out to the west really was spectacular and so very peaceful.

I did find a random letter box. I did wonder if the lasso over the head of the horse is put down when there is mail.

Finally for today.  This is obviously how you spread good news in the country.

Have a great day sweet one and keep enjoying life.

Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

New Year, New Quotes

Hi Lovelies, If you're a regular at the Scrap N Patch you would know we love quotes. To help you get inspired and motivated for the amazing new year ahead, we thought we would put together a little collection of quotes we have found. Print them out, save them to your phone, set them as your wallpaper or share them with your friends.

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the ...
