It's all about the birds.

Hi lovelies,

Did you all manage to keep warm last night. It was a little chilly here, which was not helped by the fact that we left the outer door to the van open. What silly people we are.

Today was such a beautiful day. We went for a short drive to the dam on the property.

It is obvious that the dam is suffering from the lack of water, but we were blessed to see some gorgeous birds.

On returning to the van we were met by a number of birds that decided it was time for their lunch.

We are so blessed to have such a variety of birdlife around the van.

Remember to sing the song - "There was one in the bed..... "

They are quite inquisitive,

but keep an eye on the humans

just to make sure we are not going to do anything untoward.

This gorgeous butcher bird decided that as I had vacated my chair it was all for him.

He entertained Rob with a concert. He did not even seem to concerned when I returned.

We were also joined today by a lovely kookaburra.

A magical day at Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers

Today was our planned helicopter ride to see the glacier and have a snow landing. We were a tad worried as the weather report the night before was not all that encouraging. We had a bit of a slow start and checked in at the flight desk at 10am as requested. The advice was, the flight would go ahead - however with the changing weather conditions the snow landing would be determined on a minute by minute basis. If the landing was scrapped we would have additional flight time added to keep our trip to the same length. Honestly we were just happy to be able to take off. Safety briefing done, the loading crew led us to the helipads. They were pretty cool. Looked a little like landing pads for space craft. New South Wales Adventure - Armidale

We today we ventured about Armidale on foot. We started at the markets having a look see at what they had at the farmers market. A few marketers so not much to see today really. Off we walked around town to see the historical sights. Lots of old buildings from the early days. In Armidale 100 years ago you had a choice of 21 Hotels!! Today there are 9. Sorry beer lovers. The original Bank of NSW These guys had a 4 displays of miniature figurines- really cool Baptist Church Lots of churches within cooee of each other ; Catholic, C of E, Pressy, and Baptist. Lovely old buildings to be admired. Catholic Church grounds - Large area. Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post. Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board. Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around. The day was perfect. Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher. This is really the best way to get there. Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal. There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go. We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube.
