Hi lovelies,
It has been a couple of days since we last wrote. I would love to say we have done heaps, but
we have been a little slack. There was
one day where it rained so we stayed in, and only did a few little bits on
other days.
The morning after all the rain we decided to head to see
some of the beaches that are just south of Forster.
Boomerang beach was one of our first stops and this is an
amazing area.
The beach has obviously been a little battered from recent
weather and there is quite a drop off to the surf. Both of us were convinced that this was a
brilliant place to surf, but not perhaps to swim.
From there we headed to Bluey’s beach. Access to this beach is down a narrow road. There was no one at this beach.
I thought that the trees behind one of the houses at the
beach looked a little weird, even “fakish”.
They were lovely to look at and we would love to hear if you agree they
appear not quite right, and why.
The last beach we headed for was Elizabeth Beach.
This area actually has a surf side and a lake
side. Lots were taking advantage of the surf side, and
we took a short stroll along a wharf on the lake side. A little shallow for swimming.
Earlier on that day we had thought we would go for a walk up
Cape Hawke to the lookout and see what was on offer.
It was not a long walk, but we were about 100
meters in when the mozzies swarmed. We
rushed back to the car and applied spray, but that did not deter the savage
little blighters. So it was back in the
car and we took this photo driving back down.
On our last day at Forster we decided that a spot of fishing
and sitting on the bank of the river was the way to go. The fish were biting as soon as the bait hit
the water, but alas the only catch was this little octopus. I am not a fan of them so back he went.
Today we left Forster and headed for Soldiers Point. Today is was a drive down the highway so a
little boring.
We did spot this cool looking bakery,
and took a detour to the town of Karuah
It is a pretty little town, and would be worth a return visit if time permits.
We did stop at the local tourist centre, where Robbie played
the ham.
It was then off to our park at Soldiers Point.
The first stop was the boat ramp at the end of the Soldiers
Point Headland.
We then meandered around the bays
Stopping at Corlette.
Then at Nelson Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse has a gift shop and a café and
the most gorgeous view.
You are also allowed to visit the Marine Rescue office and
see the officers working. We took just a
little time to watch them at work and listen as they communicated with vessels.
By then it was nearly 4pm.
So it was a quick stop to grab some staples and then back to the van for
a swim.
All our adventures for now lovelies.
Take care and keep enjoying life.
Love Us.
