Hi lovelies,
Yesterday we packed up at
Harrington and moved a whole 50km south to Darawank, just north of
Forster-Tuncurry. It took us 5 hours to get here 😊.
We went via Black Head where
they were holding the monthly markets. They were huge and had lots of
goodies to offer. I think Robbie was thankful that I had no cash on me.
From there we took a drive to
Diamond Head, a pretty beach area. We stopped there, and shared some
morning tea with a very cheeky local.
Our next stop was Red Head, but
we did not venture to the beach. There were some spectacular views of the
coastline.
It was then back into the car
and we headed along the Pacific Highway to past Nabaic and down to Wootton where
we turned off to follow the Lakes Way
past lots of lovely little bays and
finally through Forster and Tuncurry to our park.

Our van site is on the banks of
the Wallamba River.
It has a narrow but gorgeous view of the river and we can see the ducks in the lagoon.

We got set up yesterday.
Had some small power issues and found we have a problem with the fridge.
That is off to be repaired tomorrow.
We had a bit of a walk up the
boardwalk,
and then Robbie did some fishing. 1 bream, that needed to go back and grow a little.

By then we put our tired little
selves off to bed.
This morning I rose early and
waited for Rip van Winkle to get up.😉
We headed into Forster.
Had a look at the 3 main beaches there.
and Forster
Beach. This too was a little rough.
We then headed for the
boardwalk near the bridge. Where the water is so clear. It is just lovely.
We were of the mistaken belief that there would be places that we could go swimming there, as we had seen a large number of people on there yesterday, and a few again today.

Alas it seems like
it is only possible to get possessions over there if you have a boat, canoe or
surfboard. We decided that we would go for a dip anyway. So found a
non-oystered rock area near the end of the jetty, and went for a swim over to
Miles Island.
The stretch of water between the mainland and the island is not too wide, and the water was surprisingly pleasant. Not quite as pleasant coming back. We were not too concerned about making it back, but the current was a little stronger, and we were worried we would be pushed to where the oystered rocks were.

Safely at shore we treated
ourselves to fish and chips for lunch. Very yummy.
Back to the van and our plan
for the afternoon was to hire a two person canoe for a paddle up the
river. I have to say this is the closest we have come to an argument in a
long time. Robbie would not sit still 😮
It was a lovely trip up and
down the river, and we did manage to stay away from the banks.
After all that exercise we had
a dip in the pool to cool off and refresh.
Then a quick snack at the van
before getting ready to fish again.
Robbie caught another brim this time,
but only 23cm, so still too little.
All for tonight lovelies.
Stay safe and keep enjoying
life.
Love Us
