Rain and more rain.

Hi lovelies,

I know it has been a couple of days since we have done the blog and I would love to tell you that we have just been so busy, but alas no, it is just that we have had a few days of rain.  So while I told some I would blog yesterday, I was just far to busy with a crossword and drinking tea😊.

The afternoon before we left Soldiers Point we went for a walk to the pier where Robbie went fishing the day before.  We watched this man work had to reel in this Black King Fish (Cobia).

The rain has not been too much of a bother to us, as we have spend 2 of the last 3 days traveling, but it as made things a little messy when we had to set up and pack up in the wet.

On Friday we left Soldiers Point and headed to Mailtand.    We took a little scenic drive through Williamtown, through Fern Bay and across Kooragang Island

past the coal port and then on to Maitland.

We were thankful that it was fine when we arrived to set up.  We have become quite adept at working together to get the van all set up and ready for relaxing.  There was a surprising amount of grass at the site.

We went for a little drive in the afternoon first into Maitland to do some chores.  Not many photos due to the rain, but there where some gorgeous old buildings.

Then onto the town of Morpeth.

This is such a cute little town, and it must receive a larger number of visitors on weekends as many of the stores were only open on Saturday and Sunday.

We did find a gorgeous collection of shops at the Morpeth Antique Centre.  The Antique Centre itself is amazing.  An entire two story building filled with so much memorabilia, antiques and treasures.  You could honestly spend hours and hours just here.

As Morpeth is an old port town, there were a number of nautical treasures as well.  Alas you are not supposed to take photos, so you will just have to take my word for it.  The pictures attached are from their website.

Robbie did break the rules and take a photo of me in the button room.  You will be surprised to learn that I was very reserved and left them all there.

There is a woodworker in the centre and so that was our next stop.  Sadly he was closed for the day so we had to content ourselves with seeing the old brake van.

It was then off to the Gormet Food store in the centre where they were offering fudge and ginger beer tasting.

I will be honest and say that this is how I got Robbie into this store in the first place.  A huge array of goodies, lollies and jams.

We did not leave there without purchasing some lovely fudge and a bottle of ginger beer.

There is a croquet field where you can have a little fun.  This is overseen by Scarecrow Sally

and you will be pleased to know that the puppy is very well behaved and will not take off with the ball.

We went off for a bit of a walk down the town and it was interesting to see the steps down from the shops to the road.  Really cool.

and this gorgeous church which has some castle like features.

Back in the car and we headed past the Goal, which was closed due by the time we arrived.  So a quick snap and then back to the van.

Saturday it rained all day and so was a day of doing nothing and staying dry.
Today we packed up, left Maitland and headed for the town of Vineyard which is the in Hawksbury region on the outskirts of Sydney.

It was not our original plan to come here, but we have made a slight detour so I can visit with my elder brother Michael.

The drive was pretty nice, but again it rained all the way.  We were blessed that it eased off when we arrived so managed to set up with only getting slightly damp.

We did plan to go and see one of the near by town this afternoon, but we spent the afternoon in a medical centre getting some attention to Robbie’s sore ear.  An ear infection means no swimming for him for the next few days.
We have enjoyed having some chill out days.
Stay well lovelies and keep enjoying life.
Love Us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

It's all about the birds.

Hi lovelies, Did you all manage to keep warm last night.  It was a little chilly here, which was not helped by the fact that we left the outer door to the van open.  What silly people we are. Today was such a beautiful day. We went for a short drive to the dam on the property. It is obvious that the dam is suffering from the lack of water, but we were blessed to see some gorgeous birds. On returning to the van we were met by a number of birds that decided it was time for their lunch. We are so blessed to have such a variety of birdlife around the van. Remember to sing the song - "There was one in the bed..... "   They are quite inquisitive,  but keep an eye on the humans just to make sure we are not going to do anything untoward. This gorgeous butcher bird decided that as I had vacated my chair it was all for him.  He entertained Rob with a concert.  He did not even seem to concerned when I returned. We were also
