Budapest Adventures

Hi all,
Yesterday we spent most of the day travelling to get to Budapest from Paris which is all of 1 1/2 hrs by plane. Most of the rest of time was spent in the waiting or travelling in the transport vehicles. In Paris that took about 2 hrs to eventually get to the airport. Hint - Don't use shuttle services in Paris!! It's crazy as it is without moving about picking up various others.

From the air Budapest has lots of ponds of water

Budapest is such a nice change from Paris hustle and bustle. It seems more laid back and not really that busy. We walked about at night and during the day comfortably with no hustlers or feeling overwhelmed.

Last night we headed to the markets after tea. This is the Budapest Christmas markets. While not that large but they were really good to see. Lots of  different food and handmade crafts.

I blame Lizzy but I did buy a few items as well 😄. We tried the 'cronut as it seems to be called filled with custard and topped with cream. They are like donuts in a cone shape. I loved them.

We bought a few gifts and things we loved- You'll have to wait and see some of them once we get back here are a few.

Ceramic flowers

Straw handmade crafts

Ceramic flower holder and handmade purse

Ceramic decorations

Today we went walking again to do some sightseeing. I has cooled of now is about 6 C with wind blowing so maybe near 0. Best we rug up next time. We both upgraded our beanies.
trams look like old Aussie ones

Indoor markets - a few of these about (surprise)

I'm rich $10 000 (= about $50 AUD)
We had lunch at the Christmas markets where we tried some sort of Hungarian Goulash in a massive bun with the middle cut out. Quite large so we shared.

Tonight we had dinner across the road at a pub and I had some traditional Goulash with dumplings. The dumplings were like boiled dough in tiny pieces not like we know it. Kind looks like pasta.

Tomorrow later in the day we board the boat here and leave in a day or so. Monday is an guided tour about here.

Useless info for you. Buda is on side of the river Danube and Pest is on the other, so they joined up to make Budapest !! Lesson over for the day.
at a market
A handsome chap hey!

The river is just a short walk from our motel here.
Tennis ball is a gumball

My lolly collection

That's about it for now till next time .... Keep living your dream.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
