Hi lovelies,
A few more wonderful days.
We left Brighton and headed to Dover to checkout the white cliffs. We did think it was going to be another long trip to see not much, but we were pleasantly surprised. Yes it was a long trip, but Dover was full of wonderful sights.
The port was super busy with boats coming and going. We were surprised at the number of trucks that the ferries hold, and they are loaded and unloaded at an amazing pace.
There is the most beautiful castle that overlooks the town and harbour, unfortunately closed.
And of course we had to visit the cliffs. These are now overseen by the National Trust. No entry fee, but a charge for cars. We were so grateful for a place to park the tank that we did it even mind the £7.
Due to the rain the paths were pretty slippery, so we did not venture too far. It did mean that we did not actually see the white cliffs, but we did look over them and see France. Pretty exciting.
Yesterday we stopped at Canterbury for a look. I wish we could have had more time there, but you get that.
The cathedral appeared beautiful amid the restoration work going on.
We took a short walk around the centre of town and saw some wonderful buildings.
We also took a walk to the Canterbury Tales exhibit.
It was then back in the van and off to London.
We got settled into the park, which is east of Greenwich, and the took the short walk to the train station.
Oyster cards topped up, we headed of to find the Dr Who Shop. I am sure Andrew would be proud of how we made our way from the above ground train to the tube and back without getting lost. 😊. The Dr Who shop was pretty special and we enjoyed it.
This morning it was up early, back on the train and headed to Lords Cricket Ground.
It was a wonderful tour, guided by the same man that did the tour when I did it with Phillip and Andrew 2 years ago.
Robbie enjoyed it, and we saw some different areas from our last tour.
Lords done, we caught the train back to wander around Hyde Park. A wonderful spot to sit and eat lunch. We wandered around, saw some squirrels, and some really large white swans, among other water birds.
Wandering towards the Green Park we saw these 3 guards being escorted by 2 police officers. Not sure where they were going, but they did look grand.
Our next stop was a memorial park, with a number of areas remembering those who served in different war events.
From there we continued past Canada Gate to Buckingham Palace. So cool to get an up close look.
We then made our way to Trafalgar Square for a quick look.
Before returning to the park, catching 3 trains without getting lost. 😊
We are now 2 tired teddies, and I am sure we will sleep well tonight.
Stay safe and keep enjoying life.
Love us.
