2 more busy days in London

Well we have covered a lot of territory on foot, train, and bus in the last couple of days. Our poor weary bodies are feeling the effects of non stop go-go and old age to boot. Abe Lincoln Yesterday we headed into the centre of London to see Westminster Abbey, The House Guards, The Royal Mews and a boat trip down the Thames.  Westminster Abbey was amazing and mind blowing. To see the lots of famous plaques, tombs and statues of all sorts of things and people. The history of English kings and queens buried and coronations of the same was quite unreal. Poor Henry the VIII didn't get to be buried here, I wonder why? Edward the Confessor's tomb is here the King who reinstated religion here in 1066 I believe. (no photo inside allowed). The church is used regularly for services. Out front was a memorial day 11/11 poppies and crosses in memory of WWI. Poppies and crosses outside the Abbey The Abbey We watched the changing of the Royal House mounted hou...

London Monopoly

Today was a bleak day and a bit chilly with overcast and rain around. That said it was a good day venturing about London playing "monopoly'. We first up jumped on an explorer hop on-off bus and took the journey around London stopping at various spots and viewing things about the place. We played some monopoly going down Fleet St, Pall Mall and the like. red and black phone boxes After the lap, we jumped off at the Tower of London and had a tour with the Yeoman then wandered around looking at various spots inside the castle. The White Tower was really cool with lots of stuff to see. The Crown Jewels were very impressive (no photos allowed here). The armoury was cool as well seeing the guns, cannons, and knights armour and swords etc. Next we walked over to the Tower Bridge to wander up and have lookabout. That was really good. You go up the North Tower via elevator then walk across either the east or west links to the South Tower. they...

London Explorers

Hi lovelies, A few more wonderful days. We left Brighton and headed to Dover to checkout the white cliffs. We did think it was going to be another long trip to see not much, but we were pleasantly surprised. Yes it was a long trip, but Dover was full of wonderful sights. The port was super busy with boats coming and going. We were surprised at the number of trucks that the ferries hold, and they are loaded and unloaded at an amazing pace. There is the most beautiful castle that overlooks the town and harbour, unfortunately closed. And of course we had to visit the cliffs. These are now overseen by the National Trust. No entry fee, but a charge for cars. We were so grateful for a place to park the tank that we did it even mind the £7. Dover Harbor Due to the rain the paths were pretty slippery, so we did not venture too far. It did mean that we did not actually see the white cliffs, but we did look over them and see France. Pretty exciting. Yesterday...
