Colourful Carmen Art Journal

Hi Lovelies, I'm bringing you another post today full of stunning snapshots from inside the glorious art journal belonging to Helen Hollands! This week's Art Journal page gives off Carmen Miranda vibes with vibrant flowers, elegant swirls and splashes of shimmer! This page features the Laurel Birch 'Blossoming Woman' stamp which Helen has stamped with a black ink and coloured with vibrant colours. This stamp set also comes with a matching die set if you really detest cutting or prefer something a little faster. After stenciling some flourish swirls Helen has created a cloudy purple and blue background to contrast the colours in the flowers to make them really standout. From Helen's many years of experience and art studies, she has really mastered the art of pairing colours together. Helen always encourages ladies to mix things up and choose their own colours if they wish but is more than happy to offer guidance when selecting colour combination...

Nautical ATC Class

Hi Lovelies, Today I'm sharing with you some photos of what ladies got up to in one of our previous Artist Trading Card classes! Obviously this week's ATC's have a nautical theme, so the Couture Creations 'Sea Breeze' die set was the perfect accompaniment! The stunning watery background for both the card and die cuts is attributed to the wonderful Tim Holtz Oxides! These inks are extremely versatile and have such a unique finish. These cards measure at 2.5" x 3.5" and are the perfect size to give as gifts to friends, pop in your daily diary or mix in with your pocket scrapping. Liz used a light layer of clear embossing powder over the oxide inked die-cuts which gives a beautiful watery effect.  If you've been watching our Blog space lately you would know we're currently on a bit of a Crackle Texture Paste craze! I'm sure you will be too after you try it as it truly takes your project up that extra notch! Similarly ...

Wonderful White Cards

Hi Lovelies, Today I'm sharing with you these seriously stunning cards designed by Helen.  Helen has previously designed many layouts, albums, art journal and mixed media projects and has finally taken to cards! The cards focus heavily on embossing and die-cutting so it's the perfect opportunity to rummage through your collection and pull out your favorite embossing folders and dies! All three cards are made from white card stock with a single statement colour. The splash of soft pink on this card is just so stunning.   Tiny little pearls are the perfect way to subtly include a feature colour in your cards and create a seamless finish.   Helen has used Glitzin' Glamour to beautifully highlight the embossing patterns and die-cuts without introducing a new colour. Texture is the key to making a standout card when using a single colour scheme.  Helen has created texture in these cards by using layers of intricate die-cuts...

Chesteville Three Ways

Hi Lovelies, Today's post is a bit of a unique one! We're showing you three different ways you can use the same paper range. We have created a Mixed Media page, Layout and Mini Album  using 'Chesterville' by Blue Fern Studios. The 'Chesterville' paper acts as the perfect background or base for any project.  The neutral, earthy colours and patterns will suit any photos and embellishments. All three projects are very different. To see more of each project and how it's been created,  simply click on the picture! The first wonderful creation from this range is a Mixed Media layout.  This layout focuses on focusing on lots of colourful embellishments and uses  the amazing Tim Holtz Distress Oxides to create a frosted layer over the Chesterville paper.  This layout features the page 'Bretton' which has been  softly inked to change it to the desired colour. The coordinating Blue Fern  flowers have also be...

Monday Card Class

Hi Lovelies,  The cards I'm sharing with you today have been designed  by the lovely Liz for a Monday Card Class. The Darkroom Door montage page 'Art De Fleur' includes various dusty red, pink and orange flower cut out panels and was used at the feature for these cards. Embellishments including seam binding, cabochons and lace  were added to compliment the montage cut-outs. Your favorite small patterned embossing folder, some muslin and a paper doily  is all you need to add to make a beautiful card like this, suitable for any occasion. This card features three of the montage pieces and fussy cut blossoms,  complimented with a die cut doily and a crochet cotton bow.   The blossoms were fussy cut from the lovely Fab Scraps page  'Botanical Bulb' from the C86 range while the backgrounds  of the cards used the reverse side of the page. I hope these cards have inspired you to do ...
