Mothers Day at Lake Macquarie.

Hi lovelies This evening I write while sitting on the jetty at the caravan park. Robbie is fishing  and I am paddling my feet in the water. Today has been another perfect day. I spoke to my mum this morning and have receiving phone calls from my boys. I received some lovely binoculars from them all.  Just perfect for our adventures. \ This morning I spent my time working on some backgrounds while Robbie fished. We both had a lovely time. I achieved 6 backgrounds  while Robbie threw 1 baby fish back.  We then set off to grab a spot g picnic lunch and find a quiet spot on the lake at Balcolyn to eat .  Then ventured off to the old RAAF Sea Plane base at Rathmines.  The path to the memorial is lined with rosemary plants so you can place them on the plaques if you desire.  It is a lovely memorial.  I was especially touched by the poem.  A beautiful ...

Colourful Carmen Art Journal

Hi Lovelies, I'm bringing you another post today full of stunning snapshots from inside the glorious art journal belonging to Helen Hollands! This week's Art Journal page gives off Carmen Miranda vibes with vibrant flowers, elegant swirls and splashes of shimmer! This page features the Laurel Birch 'Blossoming Woman' stamp which Helen has stamped with a black ink and coloured with vibrant colours. This stamp set also comes with a matching die set if you really detest cutting or prefer something a little faster. After stenciling some flourish swirls Helen has created a cloudy purple and blue background to contrast the colours in the flowers to make them really standout. From Helen's many years of experience and art studies, she has really mastered the art of pairing colours together. Helen always encourages ladies to mix things up and choose their own colours if they wish but is more than happy to offer guidance when selecting colour combination...

Art Journal - Rustic Tress

Hi Lovelies, I'm back again with some more Art Journal goodness! This week's page has more of an earthy feel to it with plenty of textures and natural tones.  The colour palette for the page consists of light green, bold orange, and sienna with splashes of blue. Although these are Helen's chosen colours, ladies are more than welcome to mix things up and change them.  Helen has been loving using tea bags in her pages and so have we! There's nothing better than an excuse to have more cups to tea! Plus you can use them to create incredible pages like this!  On top of the various layers used to make the background, Helen has used the wonderful technique of repetition and stamped this gorgeous tree pattern to make a lovely feature. Use the Stampendous Script Tree stamp to get the same effect as Helen for this page.  There is always plenty of room for error...

Art Journal - Tulips & Tea Bags

Hi Lovelies, Helen is back again with yet another marvelous Art Journal page! As always, the class is jam packed with wonderful techniques, tips and tricks and you walk away with a stunning page to show for it! This week's page consists of burnt brown and red shades with lots of different torn mediums and six wild tulips, finished with a lovely inspiring sentiment. Helen will teach you in the class how to layer pieces of music paper and tea bags (yes that's correct) to create the prefect base for the journal page.   Only three colours of Jo Sonjas paints are required to create the entire page! It's all about the techniques used which allow you to maximize the effects of the paint- which the talented Helen will show with you.   This page is just stunning and is both soft and bold at the same time. We are always impressed by Helen's new creations week after week and are never disappointed.    We love how corrugated card can add the perfect amoun...

Sea Shell Art Journal

Hi Lovelies, Today I'm sharing with you the next addition to Helen's wonderful Art Journal. This week's class was all things under the sea and involved various layers of stamps and stencils to create this stunning oceanic background. This week Helen has included the sentiment 'every shell has a story' in-between the wispy stenciled designs. The stamp featured in this week's class was 'Sea Shells' by Stampendous, which has been water-coloured and highlighted with a white pen. These have then been layered on top and underneath the stenciling to create depth to the page.  Helen has used the dandelion stencil from Celebr8 in amongst other textures and patterns to create the background. This is a perfect example of how you can incorporate products into your project that don't appear to fit the theme. The textured paint and various stenciled designs are a stunning combination which make this page a true stand out!   A final to...

Art Journal Birdies

Hi Lovelies, Today I'm showing you inside the wonderful, magical, beautiful Helen Hollands Art Journal! Such lucky little people you are! If you don't know who Helen is, she is our fabulous Mixed Media instructor and creates stunning Art Journal Pages, Mannequins, Albums and many other creations! This page was taught recently in our weekly Art Journal Techniques class and featured Dina Wakley's 'Scribbly Birds' stamp! Helen has used soft, muted blue and green tones in her page which just look stunning! However, there is always the freedom to experiment and try your own thing in Helen's classes which we will show you further on... To create this gorgeous background, Helen has used a tissue paper base with an opaque crackle paint and a selection of pigmented paints. Layers of various patterned stamps and stencils have then been used on top the textured base. Doesn't it look stunning!   The adorable little birds have been stamped and painted...
