Art Journal - Tulips & Tea Bags

Hi Lovelies, Helen is back again with yet another marvelous Art Journal page! As always, the class is jam packed with wonderful techniques, tips and tricks and you walk away with a stunning page to show for it! This week's page consists of burnt brown and red shades with lots of different torn mediums and six wild tulips, finished with a lovely inspiring sentiment. Helen will teach you in the class how to layer pieces of music paper and tea bags (yes that's correct) to create the prefect base for the journal page.   Only three colours of Jo Sonjas paints are required to create the entire page! It's all about the techniques used which allow you to maximize the effects of the paint- which the talented Helen will show with you.   This page is just stunning and is both soft and bold at the same time. We are always impressed by Helen's new creations week after week and are never disappointed.    We love how corrugated card can add the perfect amoun...

Dusty Rose Vintage Frame

Hi Lovelies, Today I'm bringing you another sneak peak into one of our up-coming classes with the lovely Helen! This beautiful class is adorned with various delicate lace, metal trinkets, wooden embellishments and tiny flowers. What more could you ask for?! Helen will be instructing this class and will teach all the important techniques when it comes to off the page work and making sure your project stays looking as good as the day you made it! Helen is a master of anything she sets her talented hands to! The little clusters of vintage goodness embellishing the frame are just too sweet!   Vintage music paper has been used in the back of the frame which can be left as it is or you can add your own personal photos to create a precious keepsake. This beaded, hand-dyed lace is such a stunning and unique feature. Feel free to bring along any of your own lace to add to this frame if you wish to add a personal touch. If you're like us and just can't ge...

Vintage Tag

Hi Lovelies, Today I'm sharing with you this gorgeous vintage tag designed by the lovely Helen.  This tag is scattered with vintage memorabilia, unique buttons, distressed music paper, delicate lace and precious photos.   Helen has kept a fairly neutral colour pallet for this tag by using postal tags that have been inked and stamped as the background. Torn, rolled and die cut music paper has also been used to compliment and continue this neutral theme. Beautiful soft hints of pink in the tiny flowers and lace are a beautiful addition to the eclectic of vintage elements on this tag.   Helen's precious photo is surrounded by vintage buttons and sweet little metal star and heart embellishments. However, you could add absolutely anything to this tag to personalise it. There are so many ways to get your treasured photos out of the boxes and on display.  This vintage tag is perfect for those smaller pho...

Vintage Artistry Double Layout

Hi Lovelies, What says Spring more than loads of beautiful butterflies, adorable little birds and wispy ferns?  Not much I don't think. These beautiful images come from Helen's Double Layout Class featuring 'Vintage Artistry' by 49 and Market. The collection is just stunning and Helen has truly done it justice by turning it into a wonderful double page creation! Helen used a lovely chipboard sentiment from Celebr8's collection 'Good Vibes'. A finishing touch of Glossy Accents was added to the chipboard and fussy-cut butterflies. This style of layout is the perfect way to use up all your left over pieces of paper, ribbon cut-offs and anything else you could think of! Sounds great to me! Helen created this adorable pocket from some of the Vintage Artistry embellishments. It could be used purely for decorative purposes or the perfect little place to store keepsakes and letters. The various layers of paper, hessi...

Art Journal 28th July

Hi Lovelies, Here is one of our previous Art Journal Technique classes ran by the wonderful Helen.  Lots of tearing, stamping and inking was involved in the process of this  gorgeous page which ensured the ladies had bundles of fun! For the statement of the page, ladies created four tags using Distress Oxides  and torn music paper to feature stamped dragonflies. Helen used layers of book paper, music paper, stenciled texture paste and  script stamps to build up the background of the page. Helen's Art Journal pages quite often include a quote, phrase or sentiment.  For this page the quote "Art has no rules so have fun!" was included across both pages.   Helen used a multi-size circle stencil and some texture paste to add dimension to the page.  The texture paste can be inked lightly with your favourite colour to lift it off the page. Little rings of jute twine were added to the tags and  ...
