London Explorers

Hi lovelies, A few more wonderful days. We left Brighton and headed to Dover to checkout the white cliffs. We did think it was going to be another long trip to see not much, but we were pleasantly surprised. Yes it was a long trip, but Dover was full of wonderful sights. The port was super busy with boats coming and going. We were surprised at the number of trucks that the ferries hold, and they are loaded and unloaded at an amazing pace. There is the most beautiful castle that overlooks the town and harbour, unfortunately closed. And of course we had to visit the cliffs. These are now overseen by the National Trust. No entry fee, but a charge for cars. We were so grateful for a place to park the tank that we did it even mind the £7. Dover Harbor Due to the rain the paths were pretty slippery, so we did not venture too far. It did mean that we did not actually see the white cliffs, but we did look over them and see France. Pretty exciting. Yesterday...

Stonehenge and Brighton

The last couple of days we have been at the southern end of England. We missed most of the bad flooding about here at the moment. nice views about the countryside Yesterday we ventured up to see Stonehenge. It was well worth the trip to see the stones from ancient history. There is a visitors centre with buses that run up and back to the stones. Inside the centre are artifacts and slide shows about the history of the the area. It was quite informative. We always thought it was was built by Druids but it was built way before they came along. They did though use the area. It seems it was a burial ground as well with lots of mounds around which have been used for burials. Visitors centre - reconstructed houses from the time Today we went further east and camped at Brighton. It is quite different than a lot of other towns. Along the beachfront are lots of large buildings that seem to be either lodges or town houses. They look quite expensive and have a great v...

A Visit to Bath

Yesterday we had a day off as I was not too well, but today we moved onto Bristol for the night. We didn't have to go too far but we wanted to visit Bath. Bristol views across the river Avon We caught a bus then a train over to Bath as again - No parks for the big beast we are travelling in. Flower garden in a box Bath It was well worth the trip and we enjoyed the town and visiting the Roman Baths there. The streets and buildings are really well kept and was nice just wandering around the centre of town taking in the sights. The Baths was a great place to visit. Much bigger than we expected. You take a self guided tour with audio assistance to walk about and see the different places within the building. As we found out they are still excavating around here because it was such a larger place. View from above The pools are fed by natural hot springs and cold ones for various purposes. Natural Hot spring There were numerous pool...
