It's Friday - it must be food.

Hi lovelies, If you have visited the store on any of the past few Saturdays, you may have been tempted to try a piece of the beautiful White Chocolate and Macadamia Fudge that was brought in by the lovely Sonia.  Sonia even brought up a tray just for me to take home.  Robbie and Andrew decided that 1 tray was not enough, so Sonia sent the recipe for them to make more. This fudge is definitely not for those who are watching their sugar intake  Ingredients -   1 can condense milk must be full fat and nestle 1 cup soft brown sugar  125 gram butter- real butter that is 2 tablespoon liquid glucose 1 block of white chocolate 400 gram bag natural macadamia nuts. Take the first 4 ingredients and place them in large microwave bowl  Microwave for 2 minutes 4 times. 8 minutes in total   After each 2 minutes you need to stir the mix.  Time in microwave may vary depending on voltage, but Sonia always uses 8 minu...

Easy Coconut Cake Another delicious recipe supplied by Judy T. Robbie specially asked for this recipe.  So glad he enjoys cooking.   Ingredients:  1 cup dessicated coconut 2 small eggs beaten 1 cup SR flour  125 grams butter melted 3/4 cup caster sugar  1/2 cup milk 1 small tin drained crushed pineapple. (optional but makes it very, very nice!)   Method: Sift flour into bowl, add coconut, sugar and mix. Combine melted butter, milk and eggs and add to dry ingredients. Stir to combine. Can use beaters but I just do it by hand. Place in a greased slice tin and bake in a moderate oven 20 - 25 mins.  Ice with vanilla or passion fruit icing. Variations: Leave out pineapple and add grated apple and walnuts or 1 tablespoon cocoa Can be used for patty cakes

It's Friday - it must be food.

Hi lovelies, Our recipe this week is a joint effort from two of our beautiful people. The beautiful Mrs A, (from our Creative Cards group) often brings this gastronomic delight for our Monday group, and she shared the recipe with us.   This delectable batch of Friands was cooked up by the equally beautiful Annie. Raspberry Friands 1/2 cups plain flour 1 1/2 cups icing sugar (sifted) 1 cup almond meal 6 egg whites, lightly beaten 150 gms butter (melted and cooled) 150 gms frozen raspberries. Preheat the oven to 180 C, or 160 C for a fan forced oven. Lightly grease 12 friand moulds. Sift the flour and icing sugar into a large mixing bowl.  Stir in the almond meal, egg whites and butter. Divide mixture between the moulds.  Top each with 5 raspberries. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes until cooked through and golden brown.  Test by inserting a skewer into the centre, it should come out clean. Dust with i...

It's Friday, it must be food.

Hi lovelies, In our first blog post we shared a beautiful recipe by Judy.  In that post I mentioned that Robbie often treated the ladies to his wonderful, wicked, weight-gaining, gluten free sticky date pudding with caramel sauce. I have been asked by a number of ladies for the recipe, and Robbie is more than happy to share this with you.  The boys were all excited, because it meant that Rob had to make some so that we could take a photo.  We make our puddings in a muffin tin tray, rather than a cake tin, as it means that we can freeze the puddings individually for later (if there are any left). Ingredients 250g pitted dates, chopped. 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 cups boiling water 125g butter, softened 1 cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract 2 eggs 1 3/4 cups gluten free self raising flour, sifted. Note - if you do not require gluten free flour, just substitute it for normal self raising flour. Method 1.    Pre-heat o...

It always involves food.

Welcome to our blog. I decided for our first post that I would share something that is such a lovely part of our get togethers. When we gather at The Scrap N Patch for classes, crops or just a chat, there is nearly always food involved. Monday cards we are blessed with home cooking from Mrs A.  Caramel tarts and ginger slice  seem to be the favourite at present.  Gluten free short bread is always appreciated as I can eat it.  Thanks Mrs A. Thursday Parchment, the ladies work on a roster to keep their strength up, and goodies include sausage rolls, quiches, fresh sandwiches and lots more. Saturday classes depend on the ladies visiting, but the offerings include muffins, slices, cupcakes, the odd chocolate or 3 and lots more.  Often when we have visiting tutors Robbie makes his lovely scones (my mother's recipe), or if it an evening meeting we are often treated to his wonderful gluten free sticky date puddings with caramel sauce and cream. My personal ...
