Mothers Day at Lake Macquarie.

Hi lovelies

This evening I write while sitting on the jetty at the caravan park.

Robbie is fishing

and I am paddling my feet in the water.

Today has been another perfect day.

I spoke to my mum this morning and have receiving phone calls from my boys.
I received some lovely binoculars from them all.  Just perfect for our adventures.

This morning I spent my time working on some backgrounds while Robbie fished.

We both had a lovely time. I achieved 6 backgrounds

while Robbie threw 1 baby fish back.

We then set off to grab a spot g picnic lunch and find a quiet spot on the lake at Balcolyn to eat

Then ventured off to the old RAAF Sea Plane base at Rathmines.  The path to the memorial is lined with rosemary plants so you can place them on the plaques if you desire.

 It is a lovely memorial.

I was especially touched by the poem.

A beautiful spot with such history.

From there we headed for Dobell House.

I will admit to knowing nothing of William Dobell, but the visit to his house and studio has fixed that. 😊

I had such a great time.

The studio holds his original easel, work chair and paints,

and the house still hold much of the original furnishings and mountains of his artwork.

Including some hand-painted Christmas cards.

I chatted with Paulette and Sharon who were the 2 volunteers on duty this afternoon. From all accounts Mr Dobell was a bit of a character, and from the evidence left he also enjoyed a tipple or two.

The friendship chain in the photo is made from the ring pulls while playing pool with locals.   Paulette said it used to go all around the room.

While I made these discoveries, Robbie had a wander around the lake edge.

It was then back to the van and so we are now back to the start. Robbie fishing and me paddling my feet.

The park we are currently staying at is lovely, and is home to a large number of ducks.
One of the things we learned on the first day was not to leave food.  We had made lunch and decided to eat outside.

The ducks were around, but no bother.  I got up to grab something from inside and one of the cheeky blighters jumped up onto the table and stole half my sandwich.

To add insult to injury Robbie tried to swat it away and in doing so knocked over his drink, so the other half of my sandwich was soaked with red cordial.  We laughed and laughed, and now make sure we don’t leave the table until we have finished.

All for today lovelies.

I hope all mums had a great day.

Take care and keep enjoying life.
Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

A couple of days in Sydney.

Hi Lovelies, What a wonderful time we have had in Sydney.   Please note this post is very picture heavy, and pretty wordy as well.   Monday morning we left just after 9am to head into the city to visit my brother Michael.     I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track. I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track.  It took just over an hour to get to the docks were Mike was and is was so lovely to see him.     We pottered around and sat watching the river for a bit.   Had a spot of lunch and then set off to collect Seb (my nephew) from school.        School in inner Sydney suburbs is a bit of an eyeopener.   The schools are fenced and gates locked.   You cannot ent
