Off again - Take 5

Hi lovelies,

It has again been a bit since our last blog.  After Easter we spent a week with my Mum while my Dad was away for a bit.  She did not need help, but I needed to be there for her. 😊.  Then it was a quick visit home to get some appointments out of the way, get a hug or two from the the kids and on Friday we hit the road again.

At present we are in the lovely village of Wardell.  This is just outside Ballina and on the Richmond River.

Robbie is planning to do some fishing here tomorrow.

The van park here is gorgeous.  We have a lovely site with a cobbled brick sitting area

and the most gorgeous little private garden.  We feel very blessed.

This morning after a huge sleep-in (it was nearly 9 when I got out of bed) we went for a drive to Alstonville.   Even though it was overcast it was a lovely day, and we were blessed to only have the odd sprinkle of rain while we were out enjoying the countryside.

We had visited this town many years ago as one of Rob’s aunts lived there.  We had a quick walk around town

Spotted some lovely old buildings.

and an interesting piece of artwork.

We then headed to the Victoria Park Conservation Reserve.
This was pretty cool.  We followed the ‘green’ brick road to the boardwalk through the rainforest.

It is only about 400 meters so not a long walk.  The area is renowned for Pademelons, and while we did see some, I did not successfully take a photo of them. .

The sign for this tree was "slow death by strangulation"  Not a happy thought perhaps.

We did spot this gorgeous letterbox.  I felt a little sad for the people as it seems obvious that they do not get a lot of mail.

Back to Alstonville for some basic supplies and then back to the van.

Robbie had the job of trying to find out why we only had a trickle of water from the sink tap, while it flowed fine for the washing machine.  He finally discovered that there is a filter where the hose connects to the pipe, and if you do not clean it out occasionally it will clog. Another lesson for the beginners.

This afternoon has been spent relaxing, napping and doing some planning.

We are glad to be back on the road, and are hopeful that we will not return this time until October.  Our kids are even more hopeful that this is the case than we are.

All for today lovelies.

Stay safe and keep enjoying life.
Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
