Catherine Hill Bay

Hi lovelies,

This morning we made the short trek to Catherine Hill Bay.

Robbie was going to do a spot of beach fishing while I had plans to either read a book, go for a walk, write some letters, do some sketching or any combination of the former.

The morning was overcast and there was a forecast for some showers, so while Robbie was teasing fish with bait, I set off for a walk up past the pier.

The pier was part of the old coal mine complex town and would have been perfect for ships.  Alas now it is no longer used and as such has deteriorated over time.

The walk past the pier is only accessible at low tide due to the rocks but was well worth the time.

It was a little eerie.  The mine shaft entrance is now closed off, but I could not imagine voluntarily entering in as brave men of the past would have done.

The area has some remnants of when the wharf and the mine were operational.

There were a few lengths of this anchor chain, but not sure what it would have held.

A little misty rain and no fish meant that when I returned to where Robbie was, we headed off to find another area for fishing.

We did manage to do a short drive around Catherine Hill and check out some of the old houses, and churches.

We were interested to see that a number of the house still stood, and that any additions to them was all done at the back of the house and so kept the fronts realistic.

Our next stop was to Boatrowers Reserve at Blacksmiths Beach.

This was a beautiful place to stop.  A nice grassy area with a perfect place for Robbie to fish.

It is just east of the Swansea bridge and the tide was running pretty fast.

He had a number of bites,

but alas only caught one fish.  It was a little small so back it went.

I spent the remainder of the morning reading a book and chatting a little with the Monday ladies about them eating strawberry cheesecake and not bringing me any.

We had lunch on the riverbank and then headed back to the van, where we chilled out after such a fast paced morning.
It was lovely to finish the day with a cuppa, some snacks and a read.  (another book down Gramps.)

All for today lovely ones,
Take care and keep enjoying life.
Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
