Wardell to Stroud Via Kempsey

Hi lovelies,

What a wonderful couple of days we have had.

On our last day in Wardell we did some fishing, and reading, and all was back right again in the world.

Robbie caught 2 catfish, and I am thankful that he decided to toss them back.  I have never eaten it, and not sure I want to begin now.  😊

We left Wardell on Monday and headed to Kempsey.  It was a lovely drive.  Saw these little cuties when we stopped for morning tea.

We camped at the showgrounds, and the site was lovely.

In the afternoon we took a walk into town

 and along the Macleay River.

It was teaming with ducks and geese.

It was such a lovely wander around.  We picked up some sustenance at Coles and then walked back.
On the way we saw this gorgeous skater boy at the park.

Tuesday morning we headed for Stroud.  It was good to be back where we our travels were interrupted in March.

We were blessed to have the same campsite as last time and we quickly set up, and went for a walk into town to visit the post office where we were lucky to see this lovely.

Back to the van for an afternoon nap and read and chill out.  There was a lot of birds around, but none close enough to get a close up shot.

This morning it was chilly.  Perhaps still not chilly enough for shoes, but that might be because I had my tooties in front of the heater.

We stayed in the van for a bit and then took a trip to see a house at Girvan Estate.  This is the tallest privately owned home in Australia.

It has been sold since the website we got the info from was written and it is no longer open to the public.  It is a pretty amazing building, with 10 floors.  The view from the rooms would be incredible.

We then drove back into Stroud, finding these roadside friends on the way.

We did wonder if there was a skeleton themed thing going at one stage.

At Stroud we ventured up to Silo Hill.  The history for this is really interesting, and while you can no longer see inside the underground silos, it must have been amazing in it’s day.  We asked at the local info centre as to how they got the grain out, alas the lady did not know, we are none the wiser at present.
The brick squares are the silo tops.  There are 2 sets of 4.  Only one is open so you can see in it, but nature as decided that it is a great place for a fernery.

There are also a couple of cannons at the site, which were made in England and brought out here.

It as then back to the van, another afternoon nap.

Not done this for a while, but here are the "what flower is this" picture.

It is cool again tonight and we already have the heater on.  I am thankful that we collected the doona on our last trip home.
All for tonight lovelies.
Stay safe and keep enjoying life.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
