Glasgow - Fallkirk's Wheel and the Kelpies

Today we left the highlands and ventured south towards Glasgow. Officially the highlands end after Loch Lomand. We did stop and a for a bit and admire the huge Loch and took a few pictures. Loch Lomand The drive is very special through the huge Glen with mountains on both sides with snow capped tops. The scenery and roads change markedly with dual carriage ways towards the end of Loch Lomand. It like living in civilization again. The journey into Glasgow is very different just like driving into Sydney or whatever very large city. Found Dr Who as well We took a trio via the city to try to find some tourist info, well that wasn't clever so we quickly exited to find our van park and sort out stuff from there. We took stock and then decided to head towards the Fallkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. Saw a cute little squirrel running around the park and up a tree. Loved the fluffy tail and the scampering around they do. Well, we were fortunate that the wheel was in...

Fort William

Hi lovelies, Another amazing day on our adventure. This morning we left our camp site and headed for Glenfinnan. Our aim to see the Glenfinnan Monument and the Viaduct. Outlander Movie buffs take note here It was brisk this morning, but a lovely day for a bit of a stroll. The monument is quite impressive, and the view of the peaceful loch was just stunning. We then wandered up to the viewing area for the Viaduct. This was used as the Hogwarts Train track in the Harry Potter movies. Also an impressive site. The 2 nomads The viaduct used for Harry Potter The views with the snow covered mountains in the background made for a pretty picture. From there we headed to see Neptune’s Stairs. This is a series of 8 locks that take boats between Loch Eil and Loch Lochy. We were blessed to see a yacht going up from Eil to Lochy. It was so cool. The lock operators were very helpful and happily answered any questions anyone had. It takes 1 1/2 hour...

"Over the sea to Skye"

Today we ventured down to the Isle of Skye. Thoughts... well the bridge was nice and some of the scenery was cool, but really it is a drive to nowhere special:( Bridges to Skye We stopped at a waterfall and a shopping centre to restock, visited a tourist centre but really nothing stood out. We were not going on anymore single lane roads!! Skye Mountains The best parts were driving back towards Fort William though the mountains on both sides which had snow on the tops. Looking at the huge mountains right beside us as we drove thought the Glen. You get really close to these as you drive -great sight We stopped at Fort William to check out the tourist centre and plan the next day or so and wandered up the main street looking for pressies etc. Also the drive beside the Lochs were really nice. Our van site is quite a nice spot and very picturesque. Three Loch join here mountains in the background and 3 swans right near us. Things we...
