Day 2 - Tin Can Bay

First an explanation - as we travel around we will be sharing our travels on our blog.  A number of our family are not on facebook, so this is our way of keeping them in touch.  Not totally craft related, but you never know when some craft may show up :-).

Another Day in Paradise

We were off to a bit of a late start this morning.  Slept in until 8am.  Life is hard :-).

We decided to take a stroll down the Kath Kelly path.  We were told it was about a 30 minute walk and there was a little coffee shop at the end of the road where we could refresh before wandering back.

When we set off the first thing we noticed was that someone had pulled the plug on the ocean.  The tide goes out a long way here.

The path winds along the shoreline and there are lots of signs showing the different bird life and trees.  There are also a number of different pieces of exercise equipment.  It is really a lovely walk.

Now okay we did amble in our walking but we were a bit shocked to find that we took nearly 2 hours to reach the coffee shop.  After a cuppa and lovely break we decided that the boys would walk back to the caravan park and collect the car, then come back and pick Mum and I up.

It was again then time for lunch, a bit of washing and of course the obligatory afternoon nap.
Today while I took a nap, Robbie went off to try his hand at a spot of fishing.  No fish, but a relaxing time for him.

We were pleasantly surprised by the view from the cabin at dinner time, when our gorgeous Andrew joined us.  He was back from Cairns, and will stay overnight.  Such a blessing.

We applied the loaves and fishes theory to our dinner to make it stretch for one more, and we have some leftovers for tomorrow.  I have no idea why I am constantly amazed when God works it all out.

Things I learned today...
No matter where you are, "just around the corner" is always a little further than they say.
The tide goes out a long way here, and boats just sit and wait for the next tide.
It will not take to much practice to become really good at seeming busy and active while doing very little :-).

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
