Day 5 - Tin Can Bay

Evening lovelies,

Another blissful day.  Crisp morning, beautiful sunny day and just a gentle breeze to keep the leaves rustling.

Up early again today , 8.30am is early isn’t it.  😁.

Chores done and then Rob, Gramps and I were off again to Inskip Point for a spot of fishing.  Sorry, but more beach photos today.

It was a glorious morning.  We saw lots of cars heading to and from Fraser Island on the barge.  He was certainly earning his money today.

I got nicely set up with the beach umbrella, a chair, and a foot stool.  I tried to do a spot of sketching to add to my journal, alas I was constantly distracted by the ocean.

The boys managed to catch 3 fish between them.  One was a toad fish, not really good eating.  The other two were whiting, but we decided they needed to go back to the nursery pretty quickly.

Back to the Van for lunch and the necessary nap from the early start.

With the outlook of rain for the weekend, the boys decided to take the annex down so that it would not have to be done later in the week.  While they did that Nana and I went for a short stroll to find the second hand store we saw a sign for.  Alas it was closed, so back home for afternoon nibbles and a glass of bubbles.

As our hunters did not gather any sustenance today, tonight it is dinner at the Snack Shack.

We have quickly adapted to life in the van.  Having Mum and Dad around on first this trip has certainly eased our way, and has been a huge blessing.  Being able to call on them when we have a question, or a perceived problem has been invaluable.  I wonder how different it will be when we have to fend for ourselves.

We are still learning to use the new camera, so I apologize for the quality of some shots.

Rob is off tonight having another shot at fishing, and I will be having a quiet night in the van.

All for tonight lovelies.

Have a fabulous night.

Lizzy

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

A couple of days in Sydney.

Hi Lovelies, What a wonderful time we have had in Sydney.   Please note this post is very picture heavy, and pretty wordy as well.   Monday morning we left just after 9am to head into the city to visit my brother Michael.     I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track. I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track.  It took just over an hour to get to the docks were Mike was and is was so lovely to see him.     We pottered around and sat watching the river for a bit.   Had a spot of lunch and then set off to collect Seb (my nephew) from school.        School in inner Sydney suburbs is a bit of an eyeopener.   The schools are fenced and gates locked.   You cannot ent
