Bye Scotland - Hello England

What an amazing day.

We left Glasgow and headed south.

Our first stop was Gretna Green, and the Famous Blacksmith Shop. This was pretty cool.
The maze from above

Lots of history regarding English couples dashing over the border to Scotland so that they could marry before the age of 21.
In the maze

Meet and kiss.
We wandered around the Courtship Maze and were lucky enough to meet at the bridge. 😊

We headed past the Love Lock display and then into the blacksmith shop museum to see the display. There was a group in one of the chapels having their photos taken. All dressed up in Halloween style dress. Not sure if they were renewing their vows or getting married, but it was pretty interesting. No photos as we though they might thin’ it was a bit rude.

Carlisle cathedral

Impressive stained glass windows

Our next stop was to Carlisle to visit the Cathedral there. After a bit of a dummy spit by me because I was driving and it was impossible to move our tank in the narrow narrow streets, we managed to find a park at a shopping centre nearby and walked to the cathedral.

Treasury

It was amazing. It was build in 1133. We wandered around for a bit. Saw the huge pipe organ, the different chapels and the treasure room and the huge stained glass windows.

We then stopped and joined a service. It ran for 1/2 an hour and was completely different to anything we had ever experienced before. It was called a Service of Incense. It begins with a short reading and then 20 minutes of silence and quiet reflection followed by a short time of responsive reading. We both really enjoyed it. It was interesting to be made to sit and only reflect on the love of Christ. You are given a sheet at the start with handy hints on how to direct your thought back to God should your mind start to wander.
Be Just and Fear Not
We both commented on how refreshed we felt after. It was then back to the van and a bite of lunch before heading for Windermere and the Beatrix Potter Exhibition.
Beatrix Potter replica

This was really cool, and brought back fond memories.

You wander through the display of characters from her books. Some animated, some 3D and others printed. The display really is amazing.

There is even a small garden where you can see the types of flowers, plants and vegetables that were grown in the books.

A couple of videos also give you a picture of the life of Ms Potter and how the stories came to life.

It was then back to the van and time to head for our park for the night. We arrived after dark this time, so we have no idea where we are or what is around us. Will be a nice surprise in the morning.

All for now,

Stay safe and keep enjoying life.

Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
