New South Wales Adventure - Glen Innis and Glen Innis to Armidale.

Hi lovelies,

Another 2 day catch up – so sorry.  I was so busy doing my art journal that the time got away from me.  Life is truly hard.

Yesterday we went for a drive to see The Australian Standing Stones.  It was really quite an impressive set up.

This weekend in Glen Innis is the “Fans of Outlander” gathering.  As they were setting up for the weekends festivities it was a little hard to get a photo without a tent in it.

We then went for a wander up the hill behind the stones to a lookout.  I do find it amazing that you can always find something that will set one town apart from another at these lookouts.

We then took  short drive to Red Ridge.  We had no idea what we would find, but did not expect to find some magnificent turkeys.

Home for lunch and a short nap.  Then while Robbie did some computer stuff I spent the afternoon working on my journal and having a cuppa.  It was so nice to get back to it, and a little challenge to use only the supplies I brought with me.

Today we packed up again and readied to move onto the next port of call.  As it was only 100km away we made a side venture into Guyra.  This is a lovely little town and we enjoyed a short walk up through the centre to see what shops were on offer.

The find of the day was a building were a lovely lady was downsizing and selling off some of her book collection.  We had a wonderful time discussing different authors and books we have read.  She has set up in an old building and is re-reading the books before she puts them out for sale.  I managed to get the last 6 books in the Sue Grafton Alphabet series that I had not purchased yet, and so now our book cupboard has overflowed into a second cupboard.  I had best start reading so I can donate some back as we travel.  It will not however be any of the Sue Grafton books.

We then stopped for morning tea along a creek bed at the back of town.  It runs along the golf course, which is very green and lush.  Such a calm and tranquil spot.  I could have put a blanket out under the tree and had a nap. Sigh.

Back on the road and into Armidale where we found the info centre and the headed to our van park for the next few days.  We are camped this time at the Showground Caravan Park.  There are not designated spots, just areas so it kind of looks like and abandoned lot with vans parked in all directions.

After lunch, some washing and the required nap we went set off to follow the self guided drive tour.  The drive takes you around lots of the older houses and buildings in town, and also through the Uni grounds.

The grounds of the uni are lovely, I think I will never get tired of seeing tree lined streets.

We were directed to a deer reserve, but only managed to see kangaroos and rabbits.  Lots of rabbits.

Robbie and I were both saying today that is seems unbelievable that we are headed off on this adventure.  We are having the most fabulous time seeing different regions and learning more about our amazing country.

All for tonight lovelies.  Keep enjoying life.

Rob and Lizzy

Flower of the day for those playing.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

New South Wales Adventure - Tenterfield

Hi lovelies, A little earlier start this morning than yesterday.  We were up having a lovely breakfast by 8am.   It was a little sad this morning as we said goodbye to Steph and Leo.  We have had such a blessed time with them and we look forward to catching up with them again when we head to South Australia next year. As the weather was drizzly today we decided to head off to visit some of the nearby National Parks.  Our day consisted of dirt roads, mossy paths, lots of kangaroos and very few cars.  Gramps we are very sorry but the O Mobile is in great need of a bath.  If it rains tonight I will be sending Robbie out in his swimmers to give it a wash. Our first stop was to see Thunderbolts Hideout.  It is a short walk through some bush to see where this apparently "gentlemanly" bushranger hid. It was then back into the car and off to see the Tank Traps that were part of the Brisbane Line.  It is a fairly visually unimpressive place for such an important part
