NSW Adventures - Dorrigo

Evening lovelies,

We awoke this morning to a Growers Market being held right in the Show Grounds.  How blessed.  We went and did a little fresh food gathering then set of on our next adventure. One of the things that we saw was these really interesting mushrooms.

Today we ventured to the town of Dorrigo.  Just a short ½ hour drive from Bellingen.

Robbie had said that we should not go as it was likely to be winding roads with likelihood of cliff edges, but the lady at the tourist bureau said it was a pleasant drive and there were no cliff edges, so I said let’s go for it.  I have 2 words about the lady at the information centre.  “She Lied”!!!!

I am very thankful that the road was wider than the last one we travelled on, however the drop-offs were enormous.

Our first stop was Dangar Falls.  A very pretty waterfall, and the height did not seem too bad.  We had taken our swimmers to have a dip at the bottom, but as it was only 15 degrees we decided that perhaps was not going to happen, so we just admired it from the top.

From there we headed to Donaldson Park for a spot of morning tea.  A lovely spot that looked back over the town of Dorrigo.

We then ventured off to the Rainforest Centre.  This is such a wonderful place.
There are a number of things to do.  At the entrance there are some beautiful mosaic pictures.

We did venture out onto the Skywalk, which was okay so long as you did not look over the edge.

We then took a walk down the rainforest path.  It is an easy walk and has a bitumen path all the way through it.  We managed to see a couple of different birds, and a nest, but mostly it was just very very tall trees,  vines and ferns.

It was then off to Griffiths Lookout for another view, this time back down the valley towards the coast.  Very pretty.

Further down the road a little we stopped for lunch at Newell Falls.  This waterfall does not seem very large, but is really quite lovely.  It is one of 2 falls that come down directly on the side of the road.

Then it was back again to the van for a much needed nap.
Another wonderful day seeing this simply beautiful country.
Stay safe lovelies.
Robbie and Lizzy.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
