NSW adventures - Wauchope Timbertown

Today we ventured to Timbertown about 2 mins up the road from where we are camping.

It is an historic village showing some of the workings and living quarters of the timber workers of the day.

The main attractions were the miniature steam train, the larger steam train, a blacksmith shop, whip cracking and a horse drawn cart ride.

Rob having a go at whip cracking

While not seeming to be negative it could use a few more things working, or people chatting about the working of some of the equipment.

The old steam driven saw mill was interesting, though not working, to cut timber it was operating to a degree. It showed how the 4 blades cut a log vertically. Then it went on to another section to be cut further down for use.

They had bullocks which I gather they put on displays but not today :(
A cockatoo that says "hello", some donkeys, ducks, chickens, geese etc

Generally we enjoyed the visit. On to our next destination tomorrow near the beach proper!!

It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...
