Kingscliffe to Mullumbimby

Hi lovelies,

Well today we are in the beautiful town of Mullumbimby.

I decided not to blog yesterday as there was not much news.
I got up early and got some chores done.

This little visitor decided to watch me peg the wash, must be a male.

We then ventured into south tweed as we needed a couple of parts for the van. Most were all obtained at the first store, while one continued to remain on the wanted list even though we must have visited every van, auto and camping store in the area.
It was then back to the van for lunch and our scheduled nap.

The afternoon as spent watching Robbie try his hand again at fishing. No lunch this time, but I managed to get quite a few more chapters in my book read.

Today we arose, packed up and headed off.

Our first stop was Stokes Siding. We had seen an advertisement for a place where you could make your own guitar and thought it would be worth a look. Alas, they were not open, so we just had to be content with the pretty drive.

Our next stop was Burringbar where we went to visit an antique trading store. This was a wonder to see. Sooooo much stuff.
Baskets, old ladders, printers trays, singer machines and parts, bikes, cordial bottle cases, glassware and tools.

Robbie was very glad we were in the van and had no room for the thousands of dollars I wanted to spend on things.

Nana I did spot this, and at $125 each thought you might be interested.

Gramps, these were from $350 each - keep "ours" safe

From there we headed to Mooball where we stopped at the Moomoo cafe.

This cafe, service station has a small racing memorabilia display and was well worth a look.

Cars, motor bikes and children’s antique bikes and cars made for an interesting wander.

It was then off to find the Showgrounds at Mullumbimby. I thought it was a lovely drive, but Robbie was having his normal go at me about not knowing what a highway is. I may soon loose my navigating licence if I keep it up.

Van set up we headed into town to find some sustenance.

We pulled up in the woolies car park and the first thing I saw was the man in the car next to us smoking a bong. I was told we are in a hippy town.

To Rob's dismay we also found this lovely art store.

Lots of wonderful goodies.

I controlled myself and just got some watercolour paper.

Back to the van, lunch for us both, then a nap for me while Robbie got to fixing he couple of things he got parts for yesterday.

So now here I sit, watching the gum trees across the oval.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
Stay safe everyone and keep enjoying life.
Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

It's all about the birds.

Hi lovelies, Did you all manage to keep warm last night.  It was a little chilly here, which was not helped by the fact that we left the outer door to the van open.  What silly people we are. Today was such a beautiful day. We went for a short drive to the dam on the property. It is obvious that the dam is suffering from the lack of water, but we were blessed to see some gorgeous birds. On returning to the van we were met by a number of birds that decided it was time for their lunch. We are so blessed to have such a variety of birdlife around the van. Remember to sing the song - "There was one in the bed..... "   They are quite inquisitive,  but keep an eye on the humans just to make sure we are not going to do anything untoward. This gorgeous butcher bird decided that as I had vacated my chair it was all for him.  He entertained Rob with a concert.  He did not even seem to concerned when I returned. We were also
