The road to Urbanville

Hi lovelies,
Another wonderful day in the lives of the happily retired.
A slow start this morning, I let Robbie sleep in until 9 😉.

It was then off in the car to see some what delights lay on the road to Urbanville. I will admit that this was on my wish list and perhaps the reading was better than the actual experience, but we did have fun.

The first thing on our trip was the town of Legume.  Maybe we did not go down the right street, and there were not to many, but we did not find the promised shops.

Next we headed for Tooloom lookout.  Another scenic drive, but at least this time it was not dirt.  We were past the lookout before we realised it, so we continued on and thought we would see it o
n the way back.

It was then we had experienced the most beautiful part of our journey.  A drive through a forested area were we were serenaded by what must have been a large number of bellbirds. Their joint song was lovely to listen to. We actually pulled up for a bit just to listen. A time where I was thankful for hearing aides.

We arrived into Urbanville, which is a pretty town. We were amused by the blue school.

We stopped at at the visitors center, grabbed some tourist gear and a drink.  Sat in the local park and listened to the not so gentle screeches of a large group of white cockatoos.

Then we met our first rude people in a long time.  A warning to all who visit, even though the sign says Arts and Crafts Shop (which of course made me pretty excited), and it has not 1 but 2 welcome signs, do not be fooled. This is a private residence and they are a bit savage if you poke your head in the open front door.  Perhaps they get lots of us craft mad women who will force our husbands to backtrack because it appears open but I think a “private residence” sign in the window might stop most of us.

It was then off to Tooloom Falls. We had been warned that the falls were not flowing, but regardless the area was pretty and the semi-circular falls formation interesting.

It was nice to be able to walk across the top of the falls and the holes in the rocks also caught our eyes.

Back in the car and off to Tooloom Lookout. There is no actual parking at the lookout, it is just a signpost in the side of the road, so we were grateful for no traffic so we could stop and admire the view for a minute or two.

Our last planned stop for this trip was to see a barn on the Acacia Road.  This had been recommended by the storekeeper at Urbanville, and was a treat.

Someone with a fine sense of humor has painted some beautiful blue cows living life to the full.  Really cool.  Perhaps they went to the blue school.

Back in Killarney we took a couple of shots of local art work and structures and headed to the van for lunch and what today was a much needed nap.

And finally my random mail box for today.

All for now sweet ones.

Stay safe and keep enjoying life.

Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

A couple of days in Sydney.

Hi Lovelies, What a wonderful time we have had in Sydney.   Please note this post is very picture heavy, and pretty wordy as well.   Monday morning we left just after 9am to head into the city to visit my brother Michael.     I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track. I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track.  It took just over an hour to get to the docks were Mike was and is was so lovely to see him.     We pottered around and sat watching the river for a bit.   Had a spot of lunch and then set off to collect Seb (my nephew) from school.        School in inner Sydney suburbs is a bit of an eyeopener.   The schools are fenced and gates locked.   You cannot ent
