Mann it is a lovely River

Hi lovelies,

I know, it has been a couple of days since our last blab.  We have been having such a wonderful, blissfully relaxing time.

We left the laid back town or Nimbin, and traveled
down the Bruxner Highway towards Grafton where we made a quick stop to pick up some supplies and fishing gear.

Then it was a right turn to the Gwydir Highway to the town of Jackadgery.  I know the name sound like a drink, but this beautiful piece of Australia is on the Mann River.  This town is very very laid back.  The entire town consists of the caravan park and the shop which is their office.

It is a magic place to hide away.  The park is on the highway, though we don't hear too much noise.  And when we hopped out of the car the first time we were hit with a gorgeous lemon scent from some of the trees in the park.  I though it was a gum, but the leaves are different, and no I have not taken a photo of it yet, perhaps tomorrow.  Can't rush these things.

After getting set up we took a walk down the track to the river.  This is one of the few places where you can access the river.  It was hot that afternoon and we enjoyed watching the river.

Quite shallow due to the lack of rain, but lovely just the same.  The water was surprisingly warm.

Back up to the van, and we decided that a swim in the park pool was the go.  This was beautiful.

Yesterday we did a bit of a clean up around the van site, as it rained overnight and leaves and sticks had blown all around.

A nice relaxed morning followed by a drive after lunch.  Now Robbie had found these roads, so I managed to not receive any blame for the dirt.

We were trying to find a place where you can access the river for fishing as it is to shallow near the van park.

Nothing on our first trip, but some beautiful areas where you can see the river.  Back to the highway and we headed west  About 15 minutes from the park is a turn off onto Cangai Bridge Road.

Another dirt road, but not too poorly maintained.  It is just a couple of km to the bridge, which has perfect access to the river and parking areas.  We crossed over the bridge and were surprised to see a number of vans set up on the bank of the river behind a stand of trees.  The road has signs posted as not suitable for caravans and trucks, but obviously these people cannot read.

We decided we would return here and do some fishing and reading, but for now it was back to the van for our afternoon swim.

Rain again overnight, but not as heavy as the night before.

Today was so laid back it was a little embarrassing.

We both enjoyed the cool overcast morning and snoozed off and on until nearly lunch time.  Then we had lunch and headed back to Cangai Bridge.

We went a little off road onto the rocks and parked beside the river.

Robbie did a spot of fishing,

and some unplanned swimming.

I did some reading and some photo taking.

We are planning to come back again tomorrow and have lunch there and a swim.  While we were there a number of families came and set up camp on the west side of the river, in the trees.  Looks a perfect spot for families.

No fish, but a beautiful afternoon.  Then it was back to the van, and another swim in the pool.

Life is good lovelies.  This is a magic place to come.  Perfect for doing nothing, and there is even no TV signal, so my reading is not interrupted.  We are blessed to be staying for the week.

Stay safe and keep enjoying life.

Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

New South Wales Adventure - Tenterfield

Hi lovelies, A little earlier start this morning than yesterday.  We were up having a lovely breakfast by 8am.   It was a little sad this morning as we said goodbye to Steph and Leo.  We have had such a blessed time with them and we look forward to catching up with them again when we head to South Australia next year. As the weather was drizzly today we decided to head off to visit some of the nearby National Parks.  Our day consisted of dirt roads, mossy paths, lots of kangaroos and very few cars.  Gramps we are very sorry but the O Mobile is in great need of a bath.  If it rains tonight I will be sending Robbie out in his swimmers to give it a wash. Our first stop was to see Thunderbolts Hideout.  It is a short walk through some bush to see where this apparently "gentlemanly" bushranger hid. It was then back into the car and off to see the Tank Traps that were part of the Brisbane Line.  It is a fairly visually unimpressive place for such an important part
