Visit to Bamberg

Hi all
Our channel today comes to you from Bamberg in Germany. A lovely little town without the big tourist visitors we had yesterday.

Little Venice area
We arrived in town early morning so no rushing about, so when we were all set they took us for a short coach ride into town to do a guided walk. They always give us a local guide walk and you have a choice to do a easy walk or a normal walk.
Look closely a warning to thieves on the post

Sleigh ride anyone?

Yes half a head sculpture
This is one little gem of a town. No too big or small with some unique buildings and sights. It is built on the banks of 2 rivers which break the town into 3 smaller sections. We got visit and walk around looking at some very interesting building which haven't changed for hundreds of years.
The star shows this place served beer (zoom in to see)

Notice the 2 different styles side by side
The one we liked the most was the Old Town Hall which is situated right in the middle of the river, small as it is. The story goes that they would allow them to build on either side for political reasons so they chose the middle of the river which was not owned by anyone!! They say it actually was blown up by gunpowder storage gone wrong but was rebuilt.
Painting along the both sides

Old town hall
Some of the building escaped being upgraded to the baroque style because of cost so some older style tudor houses remain. We also saw this style from a wealth merchant. This was in the style of Rococo Style (looks like Wedgewood, fine bone china)

After our tour we wandered the streets looking at the markets and going in and out of shops which was a lot of fun. We also wandered into St Martin's church for a sticky beak. Wow what a sight that was. An old Catholic Church which was just amazing to look at.

Old confessional - Amazing stuff
Also they gave us a challenge to make a Christmas decoration only using what we have available on board. Mine's done, Elizabeth is up next for hers:)
This afternoon we had a chance to visit the galley to see how they prepare meals for the 250 odd people on board the ship. Interesting.

Till tomorrow's chat -- Keep living your dream.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
