Feathers and fins.

Hi lovelies

We did not do too much for the past two days, but what we did do was so exciting.

There were a number of swans visiting the lake over the last few days, and they look so graceful and peaceful.

There are also a number of pelicans at the park, and they are very friendly.

Robbie and I did go off fishing yesterday morning.  He caught a few rock cod,

but this one with the bow tie was pretty cool.

He was a little worried about if the eel would bite or not.

While he was fishing, we saw a whale breach a couple of times just in front of us.  Alas we did not have cameras on hand to take a photo of it.

We went back up to the Warden Head Lighthouse and did see a couple of others slowly making their way up the coast.

Robbie did manage to catch a legal size fish yesterday back at the lake.

I am not at all certain he caught it as much as it caught itself.  He throws the lines in, puts the rods in the holders on the jetty and comes and sits at back at the van.

This morning we were heading to Crampton Island, which is only accessible at low tide.  When we arrived, the tide was still a little to high for us to cross, and while we were waiting a local came and let us know that due to the recent rough weather the channel was currently chest high at low tide.  So we decided it was probably not for us. 😊

We headed off to replace my phone, which had a smashed screen.  This has taken all day, and while I have a phone, we are still getting all the apps reloaded.

While waiting we headed back to the lighthouse and were again blessed with some whales who were playing.  It was so exciting.

This time we had our cameras and the binoculars that I received for Mother’s Day.

The whales were not quite as close, and Robbie did a great job at getting video and some still shots for us.

They are so beautiful to see.

Please click here if you would like to see a video he has put together.

From there we stopped at the entrance to our park for the bird feeding.
This young man keeps visitors entertained until feed time.

I am not sure why he likes trying to stand on his head.

There were hundreds of birds sitting in the trees waiting for feed time.

For some reason today they decided not to come down out of the trees to take the feed from our hands.  A large group of galahs did decided to attack the seed that was spread by the park workers.

All for tonight lovelies.  We are heading back to trying to get my new phone to work.

Stay safe and keep enjoying life.

Love us.

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventually w

Hervey Bay and the case of the missing whales.

Hi lovelies, It has been some 8 months since our last post.  Travel around the world has certainly changed in 2020. We had not planned to do too much traveling in the first half of the year, but we quickly discovered that us making that decision and the government telling us that we won't are two very different things. :-). Feeling the need for a bit of a break, and a touch of fishing we headed for Hervey Bay on Wednesday. We had a great drive up, even managed to stop for a quick chat with the lovely Shirley in Cooya.   On Thursday we headed for a quick trip to the information centre.  To my surprise Robbie wanted to book another whale watching cruise.  We spoke at length to the agent there and finally chose what was supposed to be the calmest day for the next week.  It was then off for a drive along the coast line from Point Vernon to Urangan.   The day was beautiful, though there were large patches of mist/fog that hung around some of the coast.  We had a lovely wander along the

A couple of days in Sydney.

Hi Lovelies, What a wonderful time we have had in Sydney.   Please note this post is very picture heavy, and pretty wordy as well.   Monday morning we left just after 9am to head into the city to visit my brother Michael.     I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track. I will admit that I was a little nervous of the traffic, which is why we waited until after the rush hour to leave.   We did very well I think and the GPS keeps us on track.  It took just over an hour to get to the docks were Mike was and is was so lovely to see him.     We pottered around and sat watching the river for a bit.   Had a spot of lunch and then set off to collect Seb (my nephew) from school.        School in inner Sydney suburbs is a bit of an eyeopener.   The schools are fenced and gates locked.   You cannot ent
