Today we had a quick look around Invercargill - not that much to see. We took a drive to the beach but it was a sand access so decided to avoid the end bit.
Then we visited the famous water tower in town. It is a rather larger structure that gave water pressure to the town. Stands 31.5 m tall and constructed 1889.
Next onto a Maori historical centre -Te Hoiki in Riverton, showcasing the history of the town, and the interactions between the Maori and settlers who were after seals and then whales.
Next off we went to Gemstone beach where you can collect a variety of stones and sometimes gems. The beach was interesting. It was a mixture of sand and very small stones and had a black to grey colour. It was quite smooth to walk on. Elizabeth didn't last long as it was blowing a gale. I managed to collect a few nice stones.
Then onto our place tonight at Te Anau (beside Lake Te Anau). A walk by the lake spotting some geese and goslings.
