Hanmer Springs and onto Chrsitchurch

Our journey has taken us full circle of the South Island and we are now in Christchurch until Sat 29 Nov. The Australian National over 65 cricket is in NZ this year so we're here for the week.

The last day at Hanmer Springs was fairly chilled. We did 1 walk through through the Fairy Door walk, where children have made lots of small tree houses and they have them throughout the walking track on or near trees.

The other Sculpture walk track was close due to the massive storm that had ripped through the are at the end of Oct.

Next on to Christchurch where Lizzy went and visited a craft fair.

Then went out to have a look at the beach here before going on to our accom. There is a huge pier extending around 150m out from the shore. The sand on this side of the island is sandy and dark in colour unlike the west coast.

Day 1 of the cricket nationals went off without a hitch - but we lost to NZ. Nothing to write home about in this match.

Lizzy went wandering with another wife from the teams and jumped on the tram and saw sights and spent some more money on bits and pieces.

They went to the quake centre of remembrance centre for the quake that occurred here in 2010 and the 2011 where people lost their lives. The old Anglican cathedral sustained major damage in 2011 and it's being repaired.

Temporality they have a cardboard cathedral. Yep cardboard. Compressed type which lots of structure and parts are made from till the new church is finished.

Day 2 of the nationals saw our team rained out. (If you know the joke about rain and cricket you can smile now)  So we hung around till they called it off about lunchtime. The team went out to dinner that night as a group.

Day 3 is a rest day for teams so we wandered around town for a while taking in some sights. The new Stadium is due to open next year here. Some street art in places a s well is cool.

Thanks it for now till next blog...

Hi all, Here a brief overview of our 2 day adventure on Fraser Island with Fraser Island Explorer Tours. Here is a link to our trip in video format.  https://youtu.be/QY8tr093G4o We were picked up from our accommodation by our tour guide who then picked up some more of our group and headed to the barge to go across to the Island. It was very smooth no seasickness this time :) We got on the 4x4 wheel bus and headed inland to Lake Mackenzie. This was a very picturesque spot. The water was very cool and the sand as white as we've seen it. After this we headed to Central station , the old tree clearing head quarters. Next we headed for Lake Wobby which was a 45 min trek in and 45 out across lots of sand. It sits on a big sand-blow which will eventually disappear. A small fresh water lake with a couple of cat fish in it. Then off to our accommodation for the night. The next day we headed out to run the beach pretty much all day heading all the way up to Champagne Pools. We eventua...

Three days in the snow.

Hi lovelies, We have had the most amazing 3 days at the Perisher Valley Snowfields. Warning this is a very text heavy post.  Photos are limited, you cannot take many while you ski/board.  Robbie will have a video soon. On Monday we headed up just for a drive and to see what was around.   The day was perfect.   Not too windy and bright and sunny. We parked at Bullock Flats and caught the Skitube to Perisher.   This is really the best way to get there.   Nice highway all the way, and while the train is a little expensive at $55.00 per head return it is preferable to an extra hour drive on roads that may be a little less than ideal.   There is also only limited parking at Perisher so the train is the way to go.   We had a bit of a look around Perisher before heading off to Blue Cow, again by Skitube. It was so lovely to wander around.      We were thankful that we hired boots as it wa...
